Remembering and Honoring Ridj Parantala
Firefighter Ridj Parantala suffered a medical emergency off-duty that lead to cardiac arrest. CPR was administered and EMS personnel were able to bring Ridj back, but unfortunately due to the extent of his injuries, he passed. Ridj’s last act of selflessness was becoming an organ donor, which will save multiple people.
Although Ridj’s time with the North Dakota Forest Service was short, his impact was great. Ridj hit the ground running as a first year wildland firefighter in 2023, and his impact was immediate. Through all the ups and downs a wildland fire season can put an employee through, Ridj was rarely seen without a smile on his face. During his time, Ridj provided assistance in North Dakota, Minnesota, Washington, and Idaho. His attitude and work ethic will be a legacy he leaves behind for all NDFS fire staff to model.
Our hearts go out to Ridj’s family, and all those who considered him a friend. He will be missed.
