Champion Trees of North Dakota

The NDSU-North Dakota Forest Service maintains the records for the Champion Tree Program. The “ND Register of Champion Trees” contains the champion trees and the runner-ups. Nominations for the largest tree of each genus and species are accepted throughout the year, and are due no later than December 31. The register is updated with the new champions and released around Arbor Day during the next year.

Trees Awards

The Trees Awards recognize individuals, organizations and agencies who contribute in an outstanding way to forestry activities. Forestry activities can include: fire mitigation, protection and suppression; tree planting, preservation, or maintenance; community forestry efforts; forest management practices; forest recreation; or environmental education.
