NDSU Extension to host soil water workshop on Jan. 21

The one-day workshop will cover soil and water management topics relevant to North Dakota producers, agronomists, consultants and industry personnel.

North Dakota State University Extension will hold its 2026 Soil Water Workshop on Jan. 21, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. CST at the Fargodome in Fargo, North Dakota.

This one-day event will focus on the latest advances in soil, water and fertilizer management. Virtual attendance will be available.

This annual workshop draws North Dakota producers, agronomists, consultants and industry professionals to learn about topics in soil and nutrient management. Participants will hear from leading researchers and specialists in the field and will have opportunities for student poster sessions and networking.

Sessions begin at 8 a.m. with topics ranging from fertility management in barley to understanding soil cation exchange capacity. Following lunch, the program will continue with topics including managing sulfur in North Dakota cropping systems and recent research on new nitrogen sources.

“The soil water workshop is a great opportunity to learn about recent updates to soil, water and fertilizer management in North Dakota,” says Brady Goettl, NDSU Extension soil science specialist and event organizer.

The cost to attend, for both in-person and virtual options, is $100, with lunch included for in-person attendees. Registration and a detailed event agenda are available at ndsu.ag/soilwater2026. Register by Jan. 9 for in-person and Jan. 16 for virtual attendance.

Certified crop advisers will be able to earn seven continuing education units for attending the workshop.
