The success or failure of an organization depends largely upon its Board of Supervisors.

A Soil Conservation District Supervisor holds a very responsible position. He is a member of a governing board, directing a legal subdivision of State government responsible to the legal voters of a District, with the power of taxation and the authority to formulate land use regulations.

As a Conservation District Supervisor, you will have many opportunities to help guide and develop conservation programs in your district, state and nation. You, your opinions and voice are needed and can make a difference. You and your fellow board members will be working at the "grass roots" level, the most important vantage point for identifying problems, finding solutions, developing and implementing programs.

Your conservation district board is charged by state law with specific responsibilities that no other agency is charged with and gives your district the necessary authority to carry them out.
