Farmers and crop advisers searching for research-based canola production recommendations are invited to attend North Dakota State University Extension’s Getting It Right in Canola Production webinar on March 19.
The webinar is organized by NDSU Extension and sponsored by the Northern Canola Growers Association. The online-only meeting will be hosted on Zoom. The webinar will begin at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at noon CST.
In 2025, North Dakota remained the leading U.S. state for canola acreage, with approximately 2.05 million acres planted and generally above-average yields reported across much of the state.
“However, growers faced elevated disease and pest pressure — particularly Sclerotinia stem rot — as favorable moisture and temperature conditions increased risk and required careful fungicide management decisions,” says Ana Carcedo, NDSU Extension broadleaf crops agronomist. “These educational webinars will share research updates and practical recommendations to help farmers make informed production decisions for the 2026 growing season.”
NDSU specialists will present key topics in canola production, flea beetle management, effective weed control strategies, fertilization considerations and a market outlook. Each session will conclude with a live Q&A, giving participants the opportunity to engage directly with the speakers and ask questions specific to their operations.
Certified crop advisers can earn continuing education credits by attending the live event.
There is no fee, but registration is required at ndsu.ag/GIR-canola-26. Registrants will receive an email with instructions and a Zoom link to join the webinar.
