Educational session topics will include weed management, soil health and plant diseases.

North Dakota State University’s Williston Research Extension Center will hold its annual field day on the morning of July 10 near Williston, North Dakota. Farmers, ranchers, horticulturists and anyone interested in NDSU Extension agricultural research is invited to attend this no-cost event.

“Whether you're a producer, gardener or simply interested in learning more, there's something for everyone,” says Tyler Tjelde, director of NDSU’s Williston Research Extension Center.

Registration starts at 8:15 a.m., and the dryland and horticulture tours start at 9. A light breakfast will be available, and a lunch will follow the tour at noon.

The dryland tour and session topics include weed management, soil health and plant diseases, and some sessions will focus on hard red spring wheat and kochia.

Speakers on the horticulture tour are Tom Kalb, NDSU horticulturist in NDSU’s Department of Plant Sciences, Andrew Kuester, operator at Handy Andy’s Nursery; and Rojee Chipalu Pradhan, horticulture research specialist at NDSU’s Williston Research Extension Center.

Sessions after lunch include information from the NDSU Soil Health Express Trailer, the Williams County Soil Conservation District, NDSU Research Specialist Supervisor Edson Ncube and NDSU Extension integrated pest management scouts.
