NDSU sets Agronomy Seed Farm Field Day for July 13

The educational tour will feature updates from NDSU plant pathologists, researchers and educators.

Grain disease, soybean production and weed control are among the topics that will be discussed at the annual field day held at North Dakota State University’s Agronomy Seed Farm. The event will be held on July 13 at the seed farm near Casselton, North Dakota.

“Producers attending the field day can gain valuable knowledge from NDSU Extension and research specialists on current production problems,” says Brian Otteson, director of NDSU’s Agronomy Seed Farm.

The field day tour starts at 5 p.m. and will conclude with a meal.

Tour topics and speakers include the following:

  • Small grain disease update – Andrew Friskop, NDSU Extension plant pathologist
  • Current broadleaf crops disease update – Sam Markell, NDSU Extension plant pathologist
  • Current soybean disease issues – Wade Webster, NDSU Extension soybean pathology specialist
  • NDSU Soybean Breeding Program update – Carrie Dottey, assistant professor in NDSU’s Department of Plant Sciences
  • Current soybean production issues update – Ana Carcedo, NDSU Extension broadleaf crops agronomist
  • Weed control update – Joe Ikley, NDSU Extension weed specialist, and Kirk Howatt, associate professor in NDSU’s Department of Plant Sciences
  • Hard red spring wheat update – Andrew Green, associate professor in NDSU’s Department of Plant Sciences

The seed farm is located one mile south and one mile west of Casselton.
