NDSU Moos, Ewes, and More event set for Sept. 20

Attendees can meet animals from various livestock units around campus.

North Dakota State University’s Department of Animal Sciences will host the Moos, Ewes, and More event, held Sept. 20, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the NDSU Equine Center.

Attendees can meet the animals that call NDSU their home, the managers who care for them and the faculty and staff who teach and perform research in the Department of Animal Sciences.

“If you’ve ever wondered how many socks the wool from one sheep can make, or how a cow gets so big eating nothing but salads, then we have the event for you,” says Dr. Jake Galbreath, NDSU Extension veterinarian and event co-chair.

“This free, family-friendly event allows people of all ages to see livestock up close and learn about how they are cared for and the important research they help us perform,” continues Galbreath.

Attendees will have the opportunity to hear, smell and touch animals, including calves, pigs, sheep and horses. Event-goers also get the chance to learn about biology, genetics, hygiene, nutrition and more from experts in their fields.

A fan favorite returning this year is horse-drawn wagon rides, courtesy of Keith Johnson and Bernie Johnson. Carnivore Catering will provide hot dogs and snacks available for purchase. There will also be displays, demonstrations and more going on in and around the arena.

The Equine Center is located at 5140 19th Avenue North in Fargo, North Dakota.
