NDSU Carrington Research Extension Center to host row crop tour Aug. 21

Topics will include agronomic practices, weed management and precision agriculture.

North Dakota State University’s Carrington Research Extension Center will hold its annual row crop tour Aug. 21. Farmers, agriculturalists and NDSU Extension staff are invited to attend.

Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. — a different start time from past years. Tour wagons will leave the yard at 9 a.m., and the program will conclude around noon with a lunch sponsored by the North Dakota Corn Utilization Council, North Dakota Soybean Council, Northarvest Bean Growers Association and the National Sunflower Association.

“I’m looking forward to seeing many people attend to learn about many critical crop and pest management information to improve crops,” says Jeff Stachler, NDSU Extension cropping systems specialist at the CREC.

Information will be presented regarding corn, soybean, dry bean and sunflower. Topics will include agronomic practices, disease and weed management, fertility and precision agriculture. Speakers include NDSU Extension specialists, CREC research scientists and a specialty dry bean market specialist.

Three hours of continuing education units will be available for Certified Crop Advisers for the tour.
