Youth place at 2024 4-H state indoor archery championships

Teams from several counties took top honors at the 4-H Archery Indoor Championships held recently in Minot.

North Dakota 4-H members and teams placed at the 2024 North Dakota Indoor Archery Championships held in Minot.

In all divisions of the barebow match, contestants shot 30 arrows at an 80-centimeter, 10-ring target from 15 yards away for a total score of 300. The total of the top three high member scores determined team placing.

In the beginner and junior freestyle match, contestants shot a 40-centimeter target at 15 yards for a total of 150 points. The senior freestyle match is shot at a distance of 20 yards for a maximum score of 300.

Beginner Barebow Division

The McKenzie County beginner barebow team placed first with a score of 772. Team members were Hailey Transom, Wil Wiseness, Grant Linseth and Aria Rink.

The Dickey County team placed second with a score of 756. Team members were Katie Glynn, Paisley Henning, Tate Bratlie and Dekker Mosley.

Third place went to Mclean County. Team members were Ava Weldon, Twaney Janse Van Rensburg, Keegan Wimer and Lincoln Kolden.

Individual beginner barebow winners were:

  • First - Hailey Transtrom, McKenzie County, with a score of 275
  • Second - Ava Weldon, McLean County, with a score of 256
  • Third - Katie Glynn, Dickey County, with a score of 255
  • Fourth - Jase Clemens, Bottineau County, with a score of 254
  • Fifth - Will Wiseness, McKenzie County, with a score of 252

Junior Barebow Division

The Ward County junior barebow team placed first with a score 831. Team members were Raegan Albert, Kendall Jantz, Taryn Albert and Brynlee Bloms.

Second place went to the McLean County team. Team members were Kaylee Magandy, Bella Wimer, Bekka Bentz and Jordi Keller.

LaMoure County placed third. Team members were Emmy Kiecker, Taylor Zaun and Lilah Ketterling.

Junior barebow individual winners were:

  • First - Raegan Albert, Ward County, with a score of 283
  • Second - Kendall Janz, Ward County, with a score of 280
  • Third - Joe Schmidt, Hettinger County, with a score of 272
  • Fourth - Emmy Kiecker, LaMoure County, with a score of 271
  • Fifth - Kaylee Magandy, McLean County, with a score of 269

Senior Barebow Division

Dickey County placed first in the senior barebow division with a score of 838. Team members were    Aubrey Middlestead, Michaela Bierman, Jaden Henning and Porter Glynn.

The McLean County team placed second. Team members were Molly Jochim, Braelynn Smith, Troyal Franklin and Haylie Bentz.

Hettinger County placed third. Team members were Chloe Schmidt, Rylee Green, Katie Schmidt and Megan Monk.

Senior barebow individual winners were:

  • First - Aubrey Middlestead, Dickey County, with a score of 288
  • Second - Molly Jochim, McLean County, with a score of 279
  • Third - Michaela Bierman, Dickey County, with a score of 277
  • Fourth - Owen Njos, Bowman County, with a score of 276
  • Fifth - Elizabeth Michel, Ward County, with a score of 274

Beginner Freestyle Division

The Morton County beginner freestyle team placed first with a score of 398. Team members were Ryann Veith, Brielle Mossette, Laila Gartner and Kallie Vogel.

The team from McKenzie County placed second. Team members were Haley Transom, Colt Lawlar, Wesley Ragan and Ian Delaney.

Third place went to Ward County. Team members were Owen Peterson, Heston Siefert, Kelby Yoder and Brody Bertsch.

Individual beginner freestyle winners were:

  • First - Isaac Scherr, Burleigh County, with a score of 146
  • Second - Ryann Veith, Morton County, with a score of 142
  • Third - Hailey Transtrom, McKenzie County, with a score of 142
  • Fourth - Owen Peterson , Ward County, with a score of 142
  • Fifth - Bryce Martin, Towner County, with a score of 137

Junior Freestyle Division

The Morton County junior freestyle team of placed first with a score of 449. Teams members were

Haidyn Mosset, Makenzie Vogel, Odessa Veith and Abel Vollmers.

Ward County placed second. Team members were Quade Everson, Tyson Purdue, Hadley Yoder and Tyson Barden.

Hettinger County placed third. Team members were Levi Keith, Hannah Dinius, Hank Dinius and Kavon Udovich.

Junior freestyle individual winners were:

  • First - Haidyn Mosset, Morton County, with a score of 150
  • Second - Mackenzie Vogel, Morton County, with a score of 150
  • Third - Odessa Veith, Morton County, with a score of 149
  • Fourth - Abel Vollmers, Morton County, with a score of 148
  • Harper Ferguson – Williams County, with a score of 148

Senior Freestyle Division

The Morton County senior freestyle team placed first with a score of 872. Team members were Landon Mosset, Natasha Roeder, Kacia Berg and Preston Miller.

Second place went to the team from Hettinger County. Team members were Beau Keith, Katie Schmidt, Kaleb Reindel and Kadence Reindel.

McKenzie County placed third. Team members were DJ Beadle, Dylon Cargo, Jax Hovde and Isaac Wolfe.

Senior freestyle individual winners were:

  • First - Landon Mosset, Morton County, with a score of 300
  • Second - Jaxon Heilman, Pierce County, with a score of 296
  • Third - Parker Zimmerman, McIntosh County, with a score of 295
  • Fourth - Jaden Henning, Dickey County, with a score of 294
  • Fifth - DJ Beadle, McKenzie County with a score of 293

Master Division

The master division of archery membership is comprised of senior-age archers who have attended or currently qualified to attend the 2024 4-H National Championships. The master level match is an individual competition.

Master division individual winners were:

  • First - Abigail Ferguson, Williams County, with a score of 298
  • Second - James McGarth, Morton County, with a score of 296
  • Third - Kendra Boehm, Morton County, with a score of 295
  • Fourth - Ellie Bargmann, Morton County, with a score of 290

North Dakota State University Extension in Ward County and Ward County 4-H Shooting Sports hosted this year’s archery championship. North Dakota 4-H shooting sports is sponsored by Scheels, a supporter of the North Dakota 4-H Foundation.
