NDSU Durum Day set for June 22

Experts will provide updates on durum production, grain quality and markets.

Farmers and crop advisers are invited to participate in Durum Day on June 22 at North Dakota State University’s Carrington Research Extension Center (CREC).

The event will be conducted from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. CDT and includes a sponsored noon lunch.

“The objective of the event is to provide updates on durum production, grain quality and markets for established as well as potential durum growers,” says Greg Endres, NDSU Extension cropping systems specialist at the CREC.

CREC developed this program in cooperation with 8th Avenue Foods and Provisions (Dakota Growers Pasta Company).

The program will provide presentations by NDSU and industry representatives during a field tour of research trials.

The Durum Day program topics are:

  • Variety performance
  • Disease management
  • Intensive management study – application timing of nitrogen and foliar fungicides
  • Grain quality and impact on pasta quality
  • Market outlook
