NDSU Extension Co-hosting Gerontology Lunch and Learn Webinar Series

Respite care and purposeful aging are among the topics that will be discussed during the webinars.

Gerontologists from North Dakota State University Extension and South Dakota State University Extension are hosting a monthly online webinar this winter on topics such as Alzheimer’s, respite care, and health and wellness for older adults.

The webinars will be held the second Thursdays in February and March from noon to 1 p.m. Central time.

“These topics are very important for older adults and their family members, especially now with the COVID-19 pandemic placing additional stress on these individuals,” says Jane Strommen, NDSU Extension gerontology specialist.

Topics that will be addressed and the presenters are:

  • Feb. 11 - what respite care is and how to access respite services in North Dakota and South Dakota, Brandon Boe, program specialist for the South Dakota Department of Human Services’ Division of Long-Term Services and Supports, and Mary Weltz, program administrator for the North Dakota Department of Human Services’ Aging Services Division
  • March 11 - purposeful aging and the important role it plays in health and wellness for older adults, Strommen and Leacey Brown, SDSU Extension gerontology field specialist

Participating is free of charge.

The webinars will be recorded and available on the SDSU Extension YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCj-FmcdznusII4O59us1BuQ) after the event.
