Webinar Set on Accepting SNAP at Farmers Markets, Farm Stands

This webinar is for those who work with farmers markets or farm stands, or are thinking about starting a farmers market.

Those who work with farmers markets or farm stands, or are thinking about starting a farmers market, will have an opportunity to learn about accepting SNAP benefits during a webinar that North Dakota State University Extension and South Dakota State University Extension are holding Thursday, Feb. 27, at 3:30 p.m. Central time.

SNAP, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, provides nutrition benefits to supplement food budgets so families with limited resources can purchase healthful food and stretch food dollars.

Jan Stankiewicz, NDSU Extension community health and nutrition specialist, and Jennifer Folliard, a SDSU Extension family and community health field specialist, will share their expertise during the webinar.

“Accepting SNAP can be a means of increasing sales, broadening the customer base for markets and meeting the needs of your community,” Stankiewicz says. “This webinar will provide a step-by-step review of how to become authorized to accept SNAP.”

The webinar is free, but registration is required. Visit https://tinyurl.com/FarmersMarketSNAPwebinar to register.

For more information, contact Stankiewicz at 701-328-9719 or jan.stankiewicz@ndsu.edu.
