Youth development professionals will have an opportunity to learn how to create partnerships with American Indian reservations, programs and organizations during a free webinar May 10.
North Dakota State University’s Center for 4-H Youth Development is partnering with the University of Minnesota Extension Center for Youth Development on this webinar, which will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Kyra Paitrick and Dana Trickey, 4-H community program coordinators with University of Minnesota Extension, will discuss the barriers to and strategies for creating partnerships with tribal nations. Paitrick also will share examples of how history plays into such collaborations, and will provide some examples of the challenges of working with tribes.
Participants will be able to identify and evaluate their approaches to building these partnerships.
“This webinar will provide research-based information on a topic that is relevant to many youth practitioners in North Dakota,” says Meagan Scott, a 4-H youth development specialist in NDSU’s Center for 4-H Youth Development. “The interactive nature of the webinar will offer participants new and innovative ways as they work with youth in tribal nations.”
