Boerboom Joins Cooperative Extension’s Governing Board

He will serve a four-year term.

North Dakota State University Extension Service Director Chris Boerboom has been named to a four-year term as an Extension Committee on Organization and Policy (ECOP) member.

ECOP works with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture to govern the Cooperative Extension System. ECOP also provides guidance on issues impacting Cooperative Extension. Its membership largely is composed of Extension directors and administrators from across the U.S.

“Our Cooperative Extension System is the envy of the world,” Boerboom says. “The educational outreach provided by Extension from land-grant universities like NDSU has advanced agriculture and enriched families and communities for 100 years. I hope to contribute to Extension’s future success through ECOP.”

The Cooperative Extension System’s North Central Region named Boerboom as an ECOP member. Each of the five regions selects three representatives to serve on ECOP.

Boerboom joined the NDSU Extension Service in January 2010 as assistant director for agriculture and natural resources, district director for five southeastern North Dakota counties and a weed science professor. He became director in 2012.

He also represents the North Central Region on the ECOP Program Committee and is the chair of the North Central Cooperative Extension Association.
