News Releases to Contain State Fair 4-H Results

The North Dakota State Fair is July 18-26 in Minot, and 4-H members from across the state will be recognized for their outstanding work. During the next week, you’ll receive about 12 news releases with these results.

This year, the news releases are formatted differently. The first section will list winners in the show’s priority order (for example, champion market barrow, reserve champion market barrow, champion breeding gilt, reserve champion breeding gilt, etc.). However, the bottom section of the news release will list winners by county so the news media quickly can find and copy information about winners from their area. You probably won’t want to publish the entire news release as is because awards are duplicated in the two formats.

Jackie Buckley, Morton County Extension agent, will be gathering and formatting information from the State Fair and sending it to NDSU Ag Communication for final formatting, emailing and uploading to http://www.ag.ndsu.edu/news/columns/2014-state-fair.

Extension staff and print media will receive a separate email with a password to download photos of some winners. That email will come from me, Ellen Crawford, later today.

Thank you for recognizing these outstanding 4-H’ers. Please let us know if you have any questions about 4-H communications from the North Dakota State Fair.
