Brian Sorenson will resign in early April as director of the Northern Crops Institute at North Dakota State University. He will join Dakota Specialty Milling as director of milling operations.

Sorenson joined NCI in November 2000 as technical director and was named NCI director in January 2008 after a national search.

“NCI is serving agriculture well, and Brian’s leadership has made a great difference. We will miss him,” said D.C. Coston, NDSU Vice President for Agriculture and University Extension.

Northern Crops Institute (NCI) supports regional agriculture and value-added processing by conducting educational and technical programs that expand and maintain domestic and international markets for northern-grown crops. NCI is funded by the states of Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota and commodity groups in those states and Montana.

“NCI greatly appreciates Brian’s leadership,” said David Clough, chair of the Northern Crops Council, NCI’s governing board. Clough is from Fessenden and represents the North Dakota Wheat Commission on the council. “He has enhanced the four-state partnership to carry out NCI’s mission, which is more important than ever in today’s global market.”

The search for a new NCI director will begin soon.
