NDSU Presidential Search Committee Schedules Webinars, Open Forums

Search committee wants to obtain feedback and gather input on the presidential profile (job description) from the public.

The North Dakota State University Presidential Search Committee has scheduled webinars and open forums for the week of Jan. 11-15.

The purpose of both is to obtain feedback and gather input on the presidential profile (job description) from the public. Anyone who cannot attend an open forum in Fargo still can participate using a computer by joining a scheduled webinar.

The webinars are scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 13, from 9 to 10 a.m. and Friday, Jan. 15, from 9 to 10 a.m. The discussion will be led by Steve Swiontek, search committee chair.

To participate in the webinar, Microsoft Windows users should use Internet Explorer (not Internet Explorer 8, the newest version) or Firefox. Macintosh users should use Safari. Go to the webinar room before the event (a day or two in advance). For those not having participated in a webinar, the user will be prompted to run the setup wizard to load the Wimba software program.

To participate in the webinar:

  • Go to http://ndivnlc.wimba.com.
  • Click on ""Participant Login."" The room identification is ""NDSU_Ag,"" and under name, enter your name.
  • Once logged in, select ""NDSU Ag. Communication"" to enter the room.
  • Participants can resize any of the windows or move the video window around.
  • Participants should have a headset with a microphone for voice interaction. However, if the group becomes too large, audio may just go one way. Participants will be able to hear Swiontek, but they will need to type comments or questions in the chat box. The comments or questions then will be shared with Swiontek. This means that participants would not need a headset with a microphone, just computer speakers.
  • If participants can’t make the live presentations, follow the same directions, but click on archive in the upper right corner. Each presentation will become viewable in the archive a couple of hours after the live presentation.

To learn more about participating in Wimba, go to www.ag.ndsu.edu/wimba.The most important links to getting started are ""participant – getting started quick reference,"" ""equipment required"" and ""Wimba login."" For more information about Wimba, contact Scott Swanson at s.swanson@ndsu.edu or (701) 231-7086.
