North Dakota State Seed Department has new director of potato programs.

Willem Schrage has joined the North Dakota State Seed Department as director of potato programs. Schrage is in charge of the shipping point, promotion and management of certification programs for certified seed potato growers in North Dakota.

Schrage holds a master’s degree from Agricultural University, Wageningen, Netherlands. He is active on various committees with the Potato Association of America, National Potato Council, U.S. Potato Board and United Nations Economic Commission for Europe. Prior to accepting his position in North Dakota, Schrage managed certification programs for Minnesota for 13 years.

“We are extremely pleased that Willem joined our team at the Seed Department,” says Ken Bertsch, North Dakota State Seed Department commissioner. “Willem brings a wealth of skill and experience, and his knowledge of seed certification will enhance our programs. I am excited that his technical and interpersonal skills will benefit our growers and the entire North Dakota potato industry.”
