NDSU has hired Reid Redden as the Extension sheep specialist and an associate professor.

Reid Redden has been hired as an associate professor in the North Dakota State University Animal Sciences Department.

He will have a 50 percent Extension, 35 percent research and 15 percent teaching appointment and will serve as the NDSU Extension Service sheep specialist. He will begin his duties July 1.

Redden will provide leadership for statewide Extension programs in sheep production and management. He also will develop an active sheep research program and facilitate the transfer of the results of that research to sheep producers. In addition, he will teach sheep-related courses on the NDSU campus.

He earned his bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University, his master’s degree from New Mexico State University and his Ph.D. from Montana State University. He is in a post-doctoral scientist position with Montana State University.

"We look forward to Dr. Redden joining our faculty and working with sheep producers across the state," says Greg Lardy, NDSU Animal Sciences Department head.
