Since much of the corn is above the moisture content for safe storage, many farmers are hoping for additional field drying before they harvest.

The major losses are $57.6 million to the crop sector, $50.9 million to households and $42.9 million to the retail trade sector.

Nearly 161,000 acres of cropland will be lost to the lake in 2013.

Approximately 10,000 acres of additional cropland is estimated to be lost for every 1 foot rise in the level of Devils Lake.
