Farmers and crop advisers searching for research-based sunflower production recommendations are invited to attend North Dakota State University Extension’s Getting It Right in Sunflower Production webinar on Jan. 13.

This webinar is organized by NDSU Extension and sponsored by the National Sunflower Association. The online-only meeting will be hosted on Zoom. The webinar will begin at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at noon CST.

In 2025, there was a substantial increase in sunflower acreage, reflecting strong grower interest and favorable market signals. At the same time, several key agronomic challenges emerged across the state.

“These educational webinars will share research updates and practical recommendations to help farmers make informed production decisions for the 2026 growing season,” says Ana Carcedo, NDSU Extension broadleaf crops agronomist.

NDSU specialists will present on key sunflower production topics, including bird management, effective weed control strategies, economically sound soil fertility decisions and a market outlook. Each session will conclude with a live Q&A, giving participants the opportunity to engage directly with the speakers and ask questions specific to their operations.

Certified crop advisers will receive continuing education credits for attending the live event.

There is no fee, but registration is required at ndsu.ag/GIRsunflower26. Registrants will receive an email with instructions and a Zoom link to join the webinar.
