Youth from any North Dakota county are invited to participate in a day filled with hands-on learning, creativity and skill-building.
Nelson County will host its annual Youth Project Day on Tuesday, Dec. 30, at Dakota Prairie High School in Petersburg, North Dakota. Youth do not need to be enrolled in 4-H to join.
The event runs from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and features three project sessions, each offering a variety of workshops. Participants may choose from activities such as woodworking, barn quilt canvas painting, a science experiment, drones and more.
Youth ages 5-7 years old will be in their own sessions with age-appropriate activities, such as making snow globes, magnets and sun catchers.
“We design these sessions so youth leave with skills they can use again at home, in 4-H projects or in the classroom,” says Traci Trostad, North Dakota State University Extension agent in Nelson County. “It’s amazing to see how one day of hands-on learning can spark ideas for future projects.”
Parents and volunteers are encouraged to attend. Registration is $20 per participant and includes all three sessions and lunch. Parent meals may be purchased in advance for $5.
Registration is now open at ndsu.ag/youthproject25.
Youth Project Day sponsors include Lakota Drug, DD’s Place, LFS, Nodak Insurance – Kris Moen, First Community Credit Union, State Bank of Lakota, Vasichek Insurance, Tronson Grain, Berg Insurance, Thrivent Financial, Lakota Feed Inc. and Nelson County Crop Improvement.
