NDSU Extension recognizes leaders for excellence

NDSU Extension teams and individuals are recognized for excellence.

North Dakota State University Extension recognized several individuals and teams for their excellent work in the past year.

The NDSU Extension Communicator of the Year award, presented by NDSU Agriculture Communication and North Dakota chapter of the Association for Communication Excellence, was presented to Mohamed Khan, NDSU Extension’s assistant director for agriculture and natural resources.

Epsilon Sigma Phi (ESP) Awards are presented to those who are dedicated to fostering standards of excellence in the Extension system and developing the Extension profession.

This year’s recipients were:

  • Early Career Service Award – Rachel Wald, agriculture and natural resources agent, McHenry County
  • Mid-Career Service Award – Karla Meikle, 4-H youth development agent, Morton County
  • Distinguished Service Award – Dan Folske, agriculture and natural resources agent, Burke County
  • Continued Excellence Award – Andrew Thostenson, pesticide program specialist
  • Visionary Leadership Award – Kari Helgoe, family and community wellness agent and mentoring program coordinator, Pembina County
  • Administrative Leadership Award – Lynette Flage, Extension associate director
  • Meritorious Support Staff Award – Jon Fry, IT systems specialist, and Jerry Ranum, IT systems specialist

Program Excellence awards honor NDSU Extension teams for their excellence in Extension programming. This year’s recipient is the Youth Tractor Safety team. Team members were Angie Johnson, Lacy Christopher, Kyle Aasand, Craig Askim, Dan Folske, Julianne Racine, Lindsay Overmyer, Madeleine Smith, Breana Kiser, Melissa Seykora, Megan Vig, Rick Schmidt, Sarah Bedgar, Tyler Kralicek, Paige Brummund, Sarah Crimmins, Katie Thompson and Sean Brotherson.
