Grain, supplements, feeding hay and winter facilities are among the topics that will be covered.

Horse owners will have an opportunity to learn about grain, supplements, feeding hay and winter facilities management issues during a webinar series that North Dakota State University Extension is hosting on Wednesday, Dec. 16 and 30 and Jan. 13, at noon Central time.

Topics will include:

  • Feeding hay during the winter months
  • Feeding grain and supplements during the winter months
  • Sampling hay and grain for nutrient analysis
  • Winter facilities management
  • Winter manure management

The presenters will be NDSU research and Extension specialists and agents and Shane Kjellberg from K2S Engineering Inc.

“This will be a great opportunity to learn and ask questions about winter feeding and facilities management strategies as it pertains to horses,” says Mary Keena, NDSU Extension’s livestock environmental management specialist at the NDSU Carrington Research Extension Center. “Management of your resources can help you save money while making sure your horse is getting the best nutrition and care at appropriate times.”
