The final webinar in a four-part series hosted by gerontologists from North Dakota State University Extension and South Dakota State University Extension will take place on September 11. It will discuss strategies attendees can use to start difficult conversations with their loved ones. The webinar begins at noon CDT.
Difficult conversations emerge where the needs, wants, opinions and perceptions of people involved in the discussion may differ, says Jane Strommen, NDSU Extension gerontology specialist.
In addition, these conversations often bring very strong emotions and feelings to the surface, especially when discussing some of the more delicate topics associated with aging and end of life.
“By investing time in learning about difficult conversations, individuals are more likely to have constructive conversations that yield the best possible outcome for everyone involved,” Strommen said.
Individuals will be able to participate from the comfort of their own home or during their lunch hour. The webinar will be recorded for those that are not able to attend in person.
There is no cost to participate. Please register by visiting https://extension.sdstate.edu/event/difficult-conversations-lunch-and-learn or going to https://extension.sdstate.edu/events and scrolling down to the Difficult Conversations Lunch and Learn.
