Lamb Quality Webinar Set for April 25

Producers should understand how production decisions impact lamb quality.

North Dakota and Minnesota sheep producers will have an opportunity to learn more about producing the highest-quality lamb meat during a webinar North Dakota State University Extension Service sheep specialist Travis Hoffman will present April 25.

“As consumers continually want to know more about where their food comes from, it is the responsibility of American sheep producers to meet production goals and capitalize on the American lamb brand,” says Hoffman, who also serves as sheep specialist for University of Minnesota Extension.

The webinar will start at 7 p.m. Central time. Go to http://sheepusa.org/Growourflock_Home to register.

Hoffman has considerable knowledge of lamb quality. He focused his Ph.D. research on the 2015 National Lamb Quality Audit. Also, he authored the lamb quality chapter in the eighth edition of the “Sheep Production Handbook.”

During the webinar, he will discuss the importance of understanding the production decisions that impact lamb quality and producing the highest-quality lamb to create superior consumer satisfaction.

Hoffman is collaborating with the American Sheep Industry Association on the webinar. The association’s Let’s Grow Committee is funding the event. The Let’s Grow program supports and promotes the development of innovative and sustainable initiatives that increase the sheep industry’s productivity, profitability and growth.
