NDSU Athletes to be Awarded Scholarships During Harvest Bowl

The 42nd annual Harvest Bowl festivities begin Friday, Nov. 6.

Fifteen scholarships will be awarded to outstanding North Dakota State University female and male athletes during this year’s Harvest Bowl festivities Nov. 6-7 in Fargo.

The NDSU Harvest Bowl program also recognizes the work of agriculturists in 53 counties in North Dakota and several in Minnesota.

A special agribusiness award goes to an individual who has a distinguished career in agriculture and business. This year’s award recipient is Lynden Johnson, a 1982 NDSU graduate and executive vice president of the Country Operations division of CHS Inc.

Harvest Bowl scholarship awardees, sport, hometown and major are:

  • Harvest Bowl Scholarship – Colin Conner, football, Mineral Point, Wis., physical education
  • Harvest Bowl Scholarship in honor of Robert Johansen – Kayla Huhnerkoch, track and field, Redwood Falls, Minn., exercise science
  • Gene Dahl Scholarship – Zach Mayo, baseball, Mather, Manitoba, crop and weed sciences
  • Scott and Ann Dau Family Scholarship – Emily Spier, women’s basketball, Buffalo, Minn., university studies
  • John and Kay Dean Harvest Bowl Scholarship – Landon Lechler, football, Beach, general agriculture
  • Gooseneck Implement/Green Iron Equipment Harvest Bowl Scholarship – Derrek Tuszka, football, Warner, S.D., crop and weed sciences
  • Myron and Muriel Johnsrud Harvest Bowl Endowment – Dan Stibral, wrestling, Tabor, S.D., agricultural engineering
  • LeVon Kirkeide, Patricia Kirkeide–Hagemeister and Friends Harvest Bowl Scholarship – Kelsey Laufenberg, track and field, Alice, zoology
  • Darrell Larson Family Scholarship – Brad Ambrosius, football, De Pere, Wis., social science education
  • Bob Lauf Memorial Scholarship – Brian Schaetz, football, Denmark, Wis., agricultural economics
  • Ron and Karen Offutt Scholarship – Andrew Smith, football, Sioux Falls, S.D., health and physical education
  • Red River Commodities Scholarship – Jarrod Tuszka, football, Warner, S.D., university studies
  • Titan Machinery Scholarship – Jack Plankers, football, Leonard, industrial engineering
  • #64 Bob Yaggie and #58 Bruce Yaggie Father-Son Football Scholarship – Andrew Bonnet, football, Council Bluffs, Iowa, finance
  • Bob and Darlene Yaggie Football Scholarship – Austin Kuhnert, football, Sioux Falls, S.D., general agriculture

The 42nd annual Harvest Bowl festivities begin Friday, Nov. 6, at the Fargo Ramada Plaza Suites with a dinner and awards ceremony. On Saturday, honorees will attend the Harvest Bowl football game between NDSU and Western Illinois.
