NDSU Dairy Judging Team Competes Nationally

Team members placed in several divisions.

Members of North Dakota State University’s dairy judging team placed in several divisions of the recent 45th annual invitational dairy judging contest at the All-American Dairy Show in Harrisburg, Pa.

The team members and their placings were:

  • Kristi Tonnessen, a junior from Granville - second in Ayershires, sixth in Brown Swiss, seventh in Holsteins, ninth in reasons and 10th high individual overall
  • Eric Miller, a senior from Mandan - fourth in Holsteins and sixth in Jerseys
  • Brett Blackwelder, a senior from Chokio, Minn. - eighth in Jerseys

The team was third in Jerseys, fifth in Holsteins and eighth overall.

“The team represented not only the College of Agriculture, Food Systems, and Natural Resources well, but the university as a whole,” says Cole Rupprecht, team coach and an NDSU Extension agent from Cass County. “The networking opportunities these students build with breeders and industry on these trips are second to none.”
