North Dakota 4-H’ers tested their creativity and video-making skills in the 2012 North Dakota 4-H Film Festival.
The winners were:
- Narrative category - first, K2S Productions (Seth Kjellberg, Sara Hatlewick and Kelly Susa, Stutsman County), “Is It the Right Choice?”
- Animation category - first, Fraza (Kelsey Hibl and Brittany Berger, Stark County), “Plastic City”
- Documentary Category - first, Bleucloud (Isabetta Herrera Grant, Cass County), “Follow My Feet: Some Summer Day;” second, Team Tichy (Megan Tichy, Barnes County), “My Family’s Connection to History”
These videos, along with the winners of the 2011 Film Festival, will be shown at the North Dakota 4-H Film Festival on Sunday, July 22, during the North Dakota State Fair in Minot. The videos will be shown in the Norsk Room of the State Fair Center.
The showing is free of charge. The audience will be able to vote for the video they think should receive the People’s Choice Award.
“4-H film making gives youth another opportunity to develop life skills such as decision making, planning and goal setting,” says Linda Hauge, a North Dakota State University 4-H youth development specialist and the festival’s organizer.
The North Dakota State Fair and North Dakota 4-H Foundation sponsor the festival.
“It is important for the foundation to fund programs that teach skills in the area of science and technology,” says Mylie Lavold, the foundation’s development director. “By supporting the 4-H Film Festival, we help provide youth with a hands-on technology learning experience.”
