Dr. Andrew Friskop is an Extension plant pathologist responsible for the management of cereal diseases in North Dakota. He is a native of North Dakota and received his Ph.D. (2013) from North Dakota State University. His applied research program focuses on the management of several cereal diseases. Dr. Friskop is assisted in his projects by Scott Meyer and Jim Jordahl.

Dr. Samuel Markell is the extension plant pathologist responsible for disease management information on broadleaf crops in North Dakota. His primary crop responsibility includes canola, chickpeas (garbanzo beans), dry edible beans, lentils, flax, peas, soybeans, and sunflowers. Dr. Markell also coordinates North Dakota's sentinel plot network as part of the soybean-PIPE and Legume-PIPE programs. In addition to extension activities, Dr. Markell also con ducts applied research on diseases of several crops

Dr. Mohamed Khan is the Extension Sugarbeet Specialist for North Dakota State University and the University of Minnesota. He is responsible for developing, conducting and evaluating educational programs that will improve sugarbeet production practices in North Dakota and Minnesota. Dr. Khan's research is aimed at improving management of diseases such as Cercospora leaf spot, Rhizoctonia crown and root rot, Rhizomania and Fusarium yellows, and agronomic practices such as optimum plant populations and nitrogen management.
Dr. Khan is the secretary of the Sugarbeet Research and Education Board of Minnesota and North Dakota (SBREB). The SBREB is responsible for funding and promoting research and educational programs in sugarbeet production. Dr. Khan is also the Chairman of the International Sugarbeet Institute which organizes an annual two day trade show. About 3000 growers and allied industry personnel participate in the exposition that involves over 120 exhibitors who showcase more than $3 million worth of machinery and equipment involved in sugarbeet production.
Dr. Khan received his BS from the University of Guyana, MS from the University of Bath, UK, and his Ph.D. from Clemson University. He is also experienced in managing tropical crops including coconut, oil palm and sugar cane.

Dr. Janet J. Knodel received her B.S. in Zoology and Ph.D. in Entomology from North Dakota State University in Fargo and her M.S. in Entomology from Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University in Blacksburg, Virginia. Dr. Knodel is the Extension Entomologist and Professor in the Department of Plant Pathology at North Dakota State University in Fargo, ND. Her primary responsibilities include insect pests of field crops, trees/shrubs, garden, and home. She oversees the insect diagnostics, administers the North Dakota Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Program and co-edits the NDSU Extension Crop & Pest Report. Her applied research focuses on IPM strategies (cultural control, biological control, host plant resistance and chemical control) for insect pests of canola, cereal grains, potato, soybean and sunflower. Dr. Knodel is assisted by Patrick Beauzay.
