Welcome to the first report of the Aphid Alert trapping network for 2019!
Sorry we're a bit late getting going this year, we had supply problems from one of our sources.
Traps are out and 3 locations reported on Friday June 30, Grenora & Tappen ND and Crookston MN. Crookston had no vector species, Tappen reported 1 vector aphid and Grenora had a mixed bag of 18 aphids, 11 of which were PVY vector species.
We'll be reporting on both Damson-Hop and Cannabis aphids this year as well. These reported from several locations at multiple times throughout last summer and there is indication that Damson-Hop and perhaps the closely related Cannabis aphid may both be capable of vectoring PVY.
