David Lehman is a Manufacturing Engineering Extension Specialist working for the College of Engineering at NDSU. Based out of the Idea Center in Bismarck, his office is centrally located to provide better access to the state. He is a native of Kenmare, North Dakota.
After graduating with an Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering degree in 2000, he served the compact construction equipment industry as a manufacturing engineer in fabrication, weld, paint, and assembly. He has international experience coming from a two-year expatriate assignment in France as a Manufacturing Engineering Manager, as well as facility benchmarking in Mexico, with additional management experience resulting from management of an E-coat/powder coat operation. His background includes work with general manufacturing systems, robotics, lean sigma, coatings, ESH, wastewater systems management and compliance, operations management, project management, TPS, Sarbanes-Oxley, strategic planning, and capital justification and implementation.
David provides outreach programs, resource materials, and preliminary engineering assistance to inventors, companies and organizations throughout North Dakota, and also coordinates the use of and access to NDSU campus resources for advanced training, research and development.
In addition, he has an MBA degree through UND allowing him to provide new management, technical, and educational services based on the needs of firms and regional industries. He also serves as a liaison with key organizations supporting state manufacturing concerns.
