Small Business Disaster Plan
Preparing your business for a disaster can help save lives, merchandise and money. This app helps small business owners and managers complete their disaster plan, and capture and store vital records, incorporating research-based educational information. You’ll be guided step-by-step in creating, saving and sharing a disaster plan for your business.
The Small Business Disaster Plan app includes screens with information describing what should be included in each segment of your business’ plan and screens to enter that information for your business. The segments are:
- Basic information
- Emergency planning
- Emergency contact
In addition to the educational information provided and text added for your business, the app allows you to take photos of inventory, supplies, computer hardware and similar materials.
The app uses your phone’s alert system to remind you to review the information at a designated time in the future up to 12 months since such documents should be reviewed at least annually.
The content can be downloaded as a csv file. Also, the app encourages you to upload the content to a cloud service such as Dropbox, iCloud, Drop or a similar service for backup.
Development of the Small Business Disaster Plan app for tablets and smartphones was supported by a grant from the National Institute of Food and Agriculture, U.S. Department of Agriculture, under award number 2013-41210-21194
