Community Forestry
Community forestry involves the selection, planting, and long-term care of the trees in our cities and towns, where most North Dakotans live. The health of this urban forest contributes to the economic, social, and environmental well-being of our communities.
North Dakota Forest Service Community Forestry personnel provide leadership and technical assistance to communities throughout the state, including:
- Tree selection
- Proper planting & tree care
- Shade tree ordinances
- Forestry management plans
- Tree pest surveys
- Workshops
- Community tree inventory
- Cost-share grant funding (available for public tree planting and program development projects)
