Ashley C. Nelson is a Ph.D. graduate student in the Department of Plant Pathology, she received a travel award for the International Society for Molecular Plant-Microbe Interactions 2023 Congress in Providence, Rhode Island this July. Along with a monetary reimbursement, this award gives access to luncheons with plenary speakers and an exclusive career-focused career panel with a diverse array of panelists. Her research is centered on Necrotrophic effector characterization and confocal microscopy. Her major advisors are Drs, Tim Friesen and Zhaohui Liu. Ashley’s goal is to continue molecular biology research and push science further for necrotrophic fungal pathogens.
