Quamme Wehlander hired as NDSU Extension child development specialist

Susan Quamme Wehlander has joined the North Dakota State University Extension’s human development and family science team as the new child development specialist.
Quamme Wehlander will lead the NDSU Extension parent education network, overseeing programs and interventions related to child development, childcare and community programming. Her responsibilities include developing educational programs for local staff, collaborating with relevant agencies, designing and evaluating effective educational initiatives, and maintaining stakeholder relationships for feedback and community-responsive solutions.
For the past eight years, Quamme Wehlander was a youth development specialist for NDSU Extension’s Center for 4-H Youth Development. Before that, she was a parent educator with Extension’s parent education network. She also has experience as a school counselor and teacher.
“With her commitment to improving the lives of families and more than 20 years of experience in her field, Sue brings the expertise and enthusiasm needed for this position,” says Carrie Johnson, NDSU Extension assistant director for family and community wellness programs.
Quamme Wehlander has a bachelor’s degree in family and consumer sciences education and child development, and a master’s degree in school counseling, both from NDSU.
“I am deeply committed to facilitating access to essential resources and tools for North Dakota families and helping them live healthy, fulfilled lives,” Quamme Wehlander says.
