NDSU names Ritchison state climatologist

Daryl Ritchison assumes the role of state climatologist for North Dakota.

North Dakota State University has appointed Daryl Ritchison as the state climatologist for North Dakota. Ritchison, who also serves as the director of NDSU’s North Dakota Agriculture Weather Network (NDAWN), brings over 30 years of professional meteorological experience to the role.

Ritchison’s career includes weather forecasting in all regions of the country and for various regional television stations.

"We are thrilled to welcome Daryl into the position of North Dakota state climatologist,” says Christina Hargiss, Director of the School of Natural Resource Sciences at NDSU. “His unparalleled expertise and unwavering dedication to NDAWN, weather and climate in our state make him a great fit for this pivotal role."

“The depth and breadth of experience Daryl brings to this role will be invaluable as he serves the state of North Dakota,” says Greg Lardy, NDSU's Joe and Norma Peltier Vice President for Agriculture.

In his dual capacity as director of NDAWN and state climatologist, Ritchison will continue to provide invaluable insights into the region's climate patterns and weather forecasts.
