65th Annual National Hard Spring Wheat Show

The Wheat Show Committee is excited to bring in a great educational line up for the 65th Annual show. This will be held February 6-8, at the Grand Williston Hotel. On Tuesday the 6th, we are hosting the 36th annual Bread Fair and are expecting over 1,000 youth to go through this program. The area 5th graders that are coming learn about agriculture; from planting to harvest and the process that is to create that loaf of bread that is purchased in the store. The best part, the kids get to make a loaf of bread during the bread fair that they can take home and bake in their oven that night.

Moving on to Wednesday February 7th, we start out the day with a 65 year review of the show and agriculture in general. After breakfast, we are bringing out NDSU Best of the Best in Wheat Production to Williston. It has been a few years since we have brought this program to Northwest North Dakota, so come listen to NDSU specialists about changes and updates that can be done on your operation in 2018. When that section of the show ends, we are hosting an extra Business After Hours in partner with the Williston Chamber of Commerce. This is a great chance for those involved in agriculture and those who are not to communicate and learn about each other’s careers. After the evening meal, which is at 5p.m. C.T we are having some social media stars presenting on agriculture. If you use YouTube or Facebook, you may have heard of the Peterson Farm Bros, the brother AGvocates from Kansas. This event is free, a great opportunity for everyone to learn about agriculture and listen to some of their educational and funny parodies of popular hit music. The last day of the show, Thursday February 8th, we will start the day with a weather outlook. After the drought of 2017, we are all hoping for moisture; come for breakfast at 7:30a.m and see what climatologist think will happen this next year. Throughout Thursday we will be discussing intercropping, perennial wheat, grain drying and of course, our awards luncheon. We will be thanking our sponsors that make this show possible, also awarding winners of the photo contest and the Ag Excellence Scholarship winners.

Throughout Wednesday and Thursday, don’t forget to stop by the trade show to speak with area businesses about new items and updates that are happening with them.
