Causes of White Wheat Heads - Tree of the Week

Nearly every year wheat growers of this area report white heads, sometimes in alarming numbers. For this area of the state, a majority of the problem is caused by the wheat stem maggot which invades the stem cutting off nutrients to that part of the plant above the location of the maggot.
