ND Master Gardener Program

Master Gardener Program Logo

The North Dakota Extension Master Gardener Program is not an ordinary education program. An ordinary class would teach you the basics of horticulture. The Master Gardener Program goes beyond ordinary and invests in creating leaders to serve the needs of their communities. Master Gardeners become ambassadors to assist North Dakota Extension in providing scientifically accurate and environmentally sustainable horticultural advice. Are you ready to be extraordinary?

2017 Master Gardener Volunteerism

Of North Dakota's 53 counties, 31 have active program participants who reported more than 10,000 hours of volunteer time to the state of North Dakota in 2017. Hours of continuing education skyrocketed to over 2,300 hours of time spent in the classroom in 2017! The time donated by our volunteers in beautifying, feeding, and researching our state is a great value. Thank you!

2019 Core Course and Pro-Hort Course

The 2019 NDSU Extension Master Gardener Core Course and Professional Horticulture Course dates have been set. We hope you'll apply to join us Fridays, January 18 - March 29, 2019 from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. (c.d.t.) (no class March 15). Which one of our course options works best for you?

The Core Course offers Master Gardener Certification by volunteering 48 hours over two years in cooperation with NDSU Extension Service in your home county. MG's remain active by meeting annual volunteer requirements. Active status allows for invitations to conferences, private learning opportunities, and group trips. On October 1, 2018, ND counties accepting applications for the Core Course will be announced and the application period for the course will be open until October 29, 2018.

The Pro-Hort Course offers the same information as the Core Course to benefit your career or for personal use. Pro-Hort students may not represent themselves as NDSU Extension Master Gardeners, are not required to volunteer, and are not invited to participate in exclusive Master Gardener events. The application period for the Pro-Hort course will be October 1 through October 29, 2018.

Please use SignUpGenius to register for a direct link to the application when it opens on Monday, October 1, 2018.
