Livestock Judging Team

Are you interested in farm livestock? The livestock judging team will judge beef, sheep, goats, and swine. Sometimes both breeding stock and market. You will learn what to look for in each specie for the animal that best represents the standards of their breed. Teams are anyone who is interested - the top 3 scores are used in the competitions. Competitions are held from the end of January to the beginning of March each year. The winning team at the state competition earns a trip to Louisville, Kentucky for the Eastern Nationals.

2017 Livestock Judging Team

The 2017 team was coached by Austin Dockter, and was pretty slim for most of the competitions because of the conflict with FFA. But the state event, held in March, is only 4-H, so all of our FFA 4-Hers were able to compete. Pictures l to r are: Abbly Helm, Alexis Vandeberghe, LaMae Turk, Coach Austin Dockter, Ashley Wolff, Kelsey Vandegerghe, and Lydia Odenbach.

2018 Livestock Judging Team

Because most of our 4-H kids are also in FFA, Stutsman County 4-H had one competitor for the regular season from January and February. She went to the state contest on March 3rd in Fargo. Kelsey Vandeberghe competed and placed 5th overall in a very large junior division. Way to go!!
