Psychologists Garret Evans and Samuel Sears (who came to North Dakota in 1997)
explain how to help victims of disasters. Topics include involving the
community, identifying signs of stress, recognizing stress in children and
youth, watching adults' patterns, focusing on social relationships, deciding
what to say to help, recognizing your limits, taking care of yourself and
instilling hope. The concepts can be applied to many stressful situations.
Helping Four-Legged Friends Survive the Storm

This video and its supporting materials share the insights of veterinarians and others in
providing relief to animals affected by disasters. Topics include recognizing the
importance of planning, coming to the rescue, taking responsibility, evacuating pets,
providing identification for horses, keeping cattle at home and coming through for your
animals.
