Voting members present were John Nordgaard, Tim Myron, Rick Vivatson, Jeff VanRay, Brad Nilson, Damon Johnson, David Fedje, and Michael Hoverson. 

Others attending were Chuck Gunnerson, NPPGA,

Willem Schrage, ND State Seed Department, Stephen Paget, J.R. Simplot Co., Grand Forks, ND, Lance Hapka, MN, and Diane Peycke, NPPGA

The committee reviewed the following proposal.

Proposals Considered:

Support of Irrigated Potato Research
Dr. Gary Secor
Amount Requested:  $3,767

The objective of this project is to conduct irrigated potato research at a site typical of commercial production to facilitate cultivar identification, production guidelines, best management practices and disease control strategies specific for irrigated potato production in North Dakota.

Funding Decisions

It was moved and seconded to grant negotiated funding of up to $3,767 to the project titled “Support of Irrigated Potato Research” as proposed by Dr. Secor.  The motion carried unanimously.

There being no further business the meeting was adjourned.

The State Board of Agricultural Research and Education’s potato granting committee was called to order by Co-chairman Brian Vculek.  Voting members present were Vculek, Jon Gilley, John Nordgaard, Michael Hoverson, Jeff VanRay, Brad Nilson, Brent Heisler, Alan Pranke and Gregg Halverson.  Non-voting members present were Chuck Gunnerson and Wade Gerner.  Also present was Diane Peycke and Lori Capouch.

The committee briefly discussed the policies of the Agricultural Research Fund and then discussed the following proposal.

Amount Requested:  $6,855

It was moved and seconded to grant $6,855 to the Support of Irrigated Potato Research project as proposed by Dr. Secor. The motion carried unanimously.
