Spring Fever – Lawns and Gardens

Spring Fever – Lawns and Gardens 3/10/17Some people seem to have a “green thumb” when it comes to their yard, lawns, and gardens.  Others often wish they did!  The opportunity to gain tips for success with your lawns, gardens, fruit trees, and landscaping is closer than you may think!

NDSU Extension Service is offering a series of four weekly Spring Fever Garden Forums starting Monday evening, March 20.  All four of the forums can be viewed online.  Alternatively, two of the forums will also be hosted in Sargent County.  To learn more about the forums, or to register to participate in any of the online or live forums, go to http://www.ag.ndsu.edu/springfever/.

The forum on the evening of March 20 will feature three “Lawns and Gardens” topics:  Spring Lawn Care, Soils for Your Garden and Containers, and Prairie Meadow Gardens.  The evening of March 27 will include three “Shrubs and Trees” topics:  Flowering Shrubs, Planting Birch Trees, Diagnosing Spruce Disorders.

The April 3 and April 10 forums are being offered at the Sargent County Extension Office in the Sargent County Courthouse in Forman, as well as online.  “Fruit” topics on April 3 will include Growing Juneberries, Grafting Apples, and Growing Raspberries.  “Landscaping” topics on April 10 will include Building Raised Beds, Shade Gardens, and Gardening for Butterflies.  Free samples of insect traps and butterfly feeders will be given to registered persons who participate at the courthouse.

For more information about lawn and garden topics, or the Spring Fever Garden Forums, contact the Extension Office or go to http://www.ag.ndsu.edu/springfever/
