Overcoming Set Backs and Negativity  4/5/19Research has shown that positive work events are 3-5 times more frequent than negative events, but negative work events have 5-10 times the impact on mood.

Research has also shown that being in a more positive mood can increase your objective performance by five percent.

Establishing routines for reflecting on the good can help us get and stay in the positive.  Some action steps are

-          Taking a few minutes at the end of the work day to reflect on three good things that happened during the day and why they happened.  This is a strategy that has been found to reduce stress, reduce physical and mental complaints, reduce the inability to detach from work, and lower blood pressure. 

-          Express gratitude everyday, either in writing, in speech, or through e-mail.

-          Talk about positive events with co-workers and family members.

-          Make it a point to celebrate successes.
