NDSU Extension - Sargent County

A recipe for Slow Cooker Chicken Fajitas is featured in this month’s issue of the NDSU Extension Service “Foodwi$e” newsletter. The ingredients include chicken breasts, canned pinto beans, canned diced tomatoes, peppers, onions, and spices. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water!

Successful slow cooker meals often start by getting organized the night before. That’s what makes putting it together a quick and easy morning task. And at the end of the day, the aroma and flavor of a meal that virtually cooked itself will be waiting for you when you walk in the door. What a deal!

The NDSU Extension Foodwi$e newsletter and website are dedicated to helping families achieve good nutrition in economical ways. Each month, Foodwi$e provides practical information, sensible answers to real questions, helpful tips, and a seasonal recipe. Recent topics have included how to stretch food dollars by trimming food waste, make-ahead freezer meals, breakfast tips, and slow cooker strategies.

Recent recipes have included Power-Packed Popcorn Sports Bars, Breakfast Burritos, and Taco Chili.

Visit the Foodwi$e website at http://www.ag.ndsu.edu/foodwise. There you will find links to current and past issues of Foodwi$e newsletters. If you do not have access to the website, please stop in at the extension office or call us to request a copy of the newsletter.

Stop in to see me at the Sargent County District Health office next Friday,
November 14, and test the effectiveness of your handwashing technique by using the glo-germ and blacklight that I will have there for you. It will be a great opportunity for a truly “hands on” experience!
