Clean the Cab

Clean the CabThe crops are all looking healthy and are progressing in growth rapidly.  We have had good weather this past week with average temperatures and a few scattered thunderstorms.  The small grains are ripening, a few producers are harvesting or attempting to harvest the grain and checking to see if fields are dry enough to harvest.  The beans are setting pods and a few are beginning to drop leaves.  The corn is in the blister stage and the cobs are forming.  As harvest approaches we need to remember to take a few extra minutes to take safety precautions with our farm equipment.

Cleaning your tractor or combine cab may be one of the last things that you think of in regards to safety and health during COVID-19.  But it is important not to forget to clean and disinfect high touch surfaces in your cab as frequent cleaning is key for prevention of further spread of the coronavirus.  As harvest approaches, your tractor or combine cab could be the place you are spending the most time.  NDSU Extension has created a small window cling with the basics of cleaning the cab and they are available for free from our office.

NDSU Extension has compiled a tremendous amount of research-based educational resources in regards to farm safety on the NDSU Extension Farm Safety website: https://www.ag.ndsu.edu/extension/farmsafety/
