The session began Thursday afternoon at the NDSU Langdon Research Extension Center (LREC), where participants had the pleasure of meeting two NDSU Professors; Dr. Judy Pearson, Associate Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences and Dr. Paul Nelson, Chair of the Department of Communications. Dr. Nelson and Dr. Pearson gave ideas on preparingCarol Goodman and presenting project topics, advice for presenting project topics to the public, how to analyze an audience, the importance of cultivating relationships and fundraising strategies. Thursday evening Carol Goodman, Executive Director for Cavalier County Job Development Authority (CCDJA), joined the class for supper and gave a speech about the Cavalier County Job Development Authority and the importance of RLND. Mrs. Goodman spoke about how the CCJDA was established, how it is funded and the purpose of CCJDA. She also stressed the importance of how strong leaders are needed in rural North Dakota and how the RLND program fits in with that role.
