RLND Class V Graduation Gala

The graduation gala honoring Rural Leadership North Dakota (RLND) Class V participants on their completion of the 2011 -2013 RLND program was held Friday, November 22, 2013 at the Ramada Bismarck Hotel in Bismarck. The evening started with a live auction with Daryl Lies, Class V member, as the auctioneer. Gala attendees were generous as they bid on the five live auction items. Part of the funds from the live and silent auction were given to the RLND Alumni Association. Auction funds also supported the cost of a Class V perspective video and a RLND Program video.

Marie Hvidsten, RLND Program Director, briefly introduced the guests gathered to celebrate the accomplishments of Class V participants before inviting everyone to the dinner buffet.

Vawnita Best and Andrea Bowman, Class V participants, talked about the journey Class V participants had been on over the past two years and the impact the RLND Program had on each of them. The Class V perspective video was shown as Class V participants shared their insights into their experiences and what the Class V motto, Make It Happen, meant to them.

Chris Boerboom, NDSU Extension Director, talked about two words with Class V participants; respect and challenge. Director Boerboom said he had a lot of respect for their accomplishments and challenged them to continue to have an impact in their community and organizations. The 23 members of the 2011-2013 RLND Class received a RLND plaque with the class mission, “Make It Happen”, engraved under the class picture.
